Accountant - General

Hamdan & Associates is a well-established Public Accounting Firm located in Rockdale, NSW. We are seeking an experienced and motivated Accountant to join our professional team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional with 3–5 years of experience in an accounting firm who is looking to further develop their career in a supportive and professional environment.

Position Overview

As an Accountant at Hamdan & Associates, you will be responsible for providing a broad range of accounting, taxation, financial reporting, and advisory services to our clients.

Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

1. Preparing annual financial statements, tax returns, and supporting schedules in accordance with applicable accounting standards, including AASB requirements and relevant ASIC regulations.
2. Preparing and reviewing individual, partnership, trust, and company tax returns in accordance with ATO requirements.
3. Preparing and lodging Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe Benefits Tax (FBT) returns, Taxable Payments Annual Reports (TPAR), and other relevant taxation reports.
4. Preparing management reports and financial information and assisting with presentations to clients, management, directors, and other stakeholders.
5. Conducting financial analysis and reviewing clients' income, expenditure, assets, liabilities, and overall financial performance.
6. Assisting with budgeting, forecasting, financial planning, and the development of accounting policies and procedures.
7. Conducting due diligence and assisting with financial investigations relating to business acquisitions and sales, capital financing, insolvency, and taxation matters.
8. Providing accounting and taxation advice to clients and assisting them with business and financial decision-making.
9. Assisting clients with the selection, implementation, and effective use of computer-based accounting systems.
10. Maintaining accurate accounting records and ensuring compliance with relevant accounting and taxation legislation.
11. Liaising with clients, regulatory authorities, and other professional advisers as required.
12. Working collaboratively with other members of the accounting team while also managing assigned tasks independently.

Skills & Requirements

To be successful in this position, you will have:

1. 3–5 years of relevant experience in an accounting firm.
2. A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, or a related discipline.
3. Strong knowledge of Australian accounting and taxation principles.
4. Demonstrated experience preparing financial statements and individual, partnership, trust, and company tax returns.
5. Experience with BAS, FBT, TPAR, and other taxation compliance requirements.
6. Proficiency in accounting software such as MYOB, Xero, Payroller, ASIC ,Trustdeed
7. Strong analytical, numerical, and problem-solving skills.
8. Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
9. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
10. Excellent client service and interpersonal skills.
11. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
12. Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines.
13. CPA or CA qualification, or progress towards CPA/CA, is preferred
