New opportunity to step into an Accounts Payable Team Lead in a prominent State Government SOR.

Your new company
An opportunity has become available for an experienced Finance Officer to join a well established State Government organisation based in South of the River. This role sits within a collaborative finance team and will play a key role in supporting end to end accounts payable and expenditure functions. The position is being offered initially as a 3 month temporary contract, with the likelihood of extension for up to 12 months to cover a period of leave.

Your new role
End to end accounts payable processing, ensuring invoices are accurately coded and processed for payment Managing invoice processing, payment batching and supplier payments
Supporting the Procure to Pay process and maintaining strong financial controls
Processing and reconciling bank payments, EFTs, BPAY and other payment methods
Administering and reconciling corporate credit card transactions (NAB)
Supervising and providing guidance to the Accounts Payable Officer
Supporting Project Based Accounts (PBA) expenditure activities
Preparing journals, accruals and reconciliations as part of month end and year end processes
Monitoring compliance with financial policies, procedures and relevant legislation
Identifying opportunities to improve accounts payable systems and processes
Assisting with audit activities and financial reporting requirements

What you'll need to succeed
Previous experience in a senior Accounts Payable position Strong knowledge of end to end accounts payable and expenditure processes
Experience with procure to pay functions, payment batching and reconciliations
Demonstrated experience supervising or mentoring staff
Strong reconciliation, analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
High level computer skills including financial management systems and Microsoft Excel
Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines in a fast paced environment
Previous experience in a government environment will be highly regarded
