AI Engineering Manager

We're partnering with an organisation investing heavily in next-generation AI capabilities and looking for an experienced AI Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing team function focused on AI agents, generative AI, machine learning and intelligent automation. This is a unique opportunity to combine hands-on technical leadership with people leadership while shaping the future direction of AI within a growing enterprise.

The Opportunity

As the AI Engineering Team Manager, you'll drive the design, development and operationalisation of AI-powered solutions, leading a team responsible for delivering innovative products and platforms that solve complex business challenges. You'll play a key role in technology selection, solution architecture, delivery leadership and stakeholder engagement while remaining close to the technology.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor and coordinate a team of AI and software engineering professionals
• Drive the design and delivery of AI agents, agent frameworks and intelligent automation solutions
• Establish best practices across AI engineering, software development and platform delivery
• Lead the development of cloud-based AI platforms, ensuring scalability, security and reliability
• Work closely with business stakeholders to identify opportunities where AI can create measurable value
• Oversee project planning, prioritisation and successful delivery of outcomes
• Evaluate and adopt emerging technologies, tools and frameworks within the AI landscape
• Promote responsible AI practices, governance, testing and quality standards across solutions
• Translate complex technical concepts into clear business outcomes for senior stakeholders

About You

You will be an experienced technical leader with a strong background in AI, software engineering and team leadership.

Essential Experience

• Proven experience leading technical teams in AI, machine learning or software engineering environments
• Strong commercial experience with Python and modern software engineering practices
• Experience designing and delivering AI, machine learning or generative AI solutions in production environments
• Strong understanding of AI agents, agent orchestration, tool/function calling and workflow automation
• Experience working with cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP
• Exposure to MLOps, LLMOps, CI/CD and modern engineering practices
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
• Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical delivery.
