Job description
The Role
We are seeking reliable and detail-focused Almond Yield Assessment Assistants to support an annual yield assessment program based in Mildura, VIC, with travel to orchard locations across Victoria and New South Wales as required.
Working within the almond and horticulture industry, you will join a hands-on field team responsible for assessing almond crops by counting nuts on selected trees and accurately recording field data. This is an active outdoor role in a practical orchard environment, offering steady hourly work and valuable exposure to the nut-growing industry.
Based in Mildura - Victoria, with interstate travel when required. Where travel is required, accommodation, transport and meals are provided, in addition to any applicable Award entitlements. Workers will meet in Mildura, and the company will provide transportation assistance to travel between the orchards.
Key Responsibilities
You will assist with collecting accurate crop information that supports almond yield assessments across multiple orchard locations. Attention to detail, safe work practices and the ability to follow established assessment procedures are important to succeeding in this role.
- Conduct almond yield assessments across selected orchard blocks
- Count and accurately record nuts on selected trees
- Use ladders safely to access trees and complete nut counts
- Record field data clearly and accurately
- Follow established assessment procedures and supervisor instructions
- Travel between orchard locations in Victoria and New South Wales as required
- Work safely outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Maintain safe work practices throughout all assessment activities
- Complete other reasonable duties as requested by supervisors
Benefits
- $33.05 per hour plus applicable penalty rates
- Approximately 6 weeks of seasonal employment
- Approximately 38 hours per week, providing steady working hours and hourly pay
- Based in Victoria, with interstate travel when required. Where travel is required, accommodation, transport and meals are provided, in addition to any applicable Award entitlements.

Your Skills & Experience
- Able to carry out physical outdoor work for extended periods, including walking, bending and working in varying weather
- Comfortable and confident using ladders safely
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately count and record field information
- Able to follow instructions and established assessment procedures
- Own vehicle or reliable transport to meet point is essential
- Ability and willingness to travel between farm locations
- Willing and available to travel between farm locations, including orchards in New South Wales
- Previous orchard, farm, horticulture or agricultural experience is advantageous but not essential
- Commitment to workplace health and safety
