As a government trading enterprise, we regulate and develop the State’s racing sector and operate the TAB – a multifaceted wagering business with a presence across more than 300 retail outlets and expanding digital platforms.

At RWWA, we pride ourselves on delivering integrity-driven outcomes for the racing community, government stakeholders, and the wider public. Our commitment to ethical conduct, community safety, and regulatory compliance is at the centre of everything we do.

Job Description

About the Role

We are seeking an accomplished and strategically minded AML Governance Manager to join our Legal, Governance and Risk division, reporting to the Head of Financial Crime Compliance/AMLCO.

This critical leadership role is responsible for strengthening RWWA’s Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing (AML/CTF) governance framework, ensuring the organisation’s compliance program not only meets legislative and regulatory obligations but also drives best practice across our operations.

You will provide authoritative advice to senior executives, oversee enterprise-wide risk assessments, lead the continuous enhancement of AML/CTF policies and programs, and act as a key liaison between RWWA and regulatory bodies such as AUSTRAC.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a compliance leader who thrives on complexity, strategic influence, and contributing to a culture of ethical conduct and operational excellence.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide expert AML/CTF advisory support and challenge across RWWA’s business divisions, ensuring compliance with legislation, internal standards, and regulatory expectations.
  • Lead the design, maintenance and governance of RWWA’s AML/CTF frameworks, programs, and policies.
  • Drive the execution of AML/CTF risk assessments, including enterprise-wide and targeted reviews.
  • Oversee and enhance compliance monitoring, assurance, and remediation activities.
  • Prepare high-quality governance and Board reporting, articulating compliance status, risks, and emerging issues.
  • Lead and deliver AML/CTF training and awareness programs across the business.
  • Act as a key liaison with AUSTRAC, external auditors, consultants, and other regulators.
  • Research emerging financial crime risks, typologies, and technologies, translating insights into program improvements.

Qualifications

About You

You are an accomplished compliance professional who combines technical AML/CTF expertise with sound judgment, strategic foresight, and the ability to influence at senior levels. You bring credibility, integrity, and the confidence to challenge and guide decision-making in a complex, highly regulated environment.

To succeed in this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in AML/CTF compliance, governance or risk management roles, including at least 3 years in leadership.
  • Deep understanding of AML/CTF legislation, AUSTRAC obligations, and financial crime risk management frameworks.
  • Proven experience developing and implementing AML/CTF policies, standards and assurance programs.
  • Exceptional analytical, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Law, Commerce, Finance, or a related discipline (ACAMS or equivalent certification highly regarded).
  • A collaborative and ethical leadership style that promotes accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
