Permanent Accounts Payable Role Global Brand, Opportunity to Progress, Office-Based, Sydney

Your new company
A global retail organisation operating a warehouse-style model with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and ethical business practices, is looking to expand their finance team. The AP function supports a high-volume, complex operation and is known for long tenure, internal movement, and promoting from within.
Your new role
As Accounts Payable Officer, you will be focusing primarily on reconciliations and issue resolution. The role is suited to someone who takes a methodical, analytical approach to resolving discrepancies, understands the drivers behind aged balances, and is comfortable owning vendor accounts end to end. Reporting to the AP Manager, key responsibilities will include:

  • End-to-end Accounts Payable processing
  • High-volume invoice processing (approximately 700 invoices per week)
  • End-to-end supplier statement reconciliations
  • Investigating and resolving aged balances and payment discrepancies
  • Managing supplier claims, credit notes and payment disputes
  • Reviewing AP ageing and following outstanding items through to resolution
  • Liaising with suppliers and internal stakeholders across multiple sites
  • Assisting with bank reconciliations and GST reviews
  • Supporting month-end reconciliation processes
  • Maintaining accurate supplier records and ensuring compliance with internal controls and procedures
  • Supporting AP Supervisors during peak periods

What you'll need to succeed

  • Previous experience in a high-volume Accounts Payable environment
  • Strong reconciliation experience with vendor statements
  • Excellent Excel skills including VLOOKUPs and Pivot Table
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Good understanding of Accounts Payable and General Ledger processes
  • Confident communicating with suppliers and internal stakeholders
  • Ability to work under pressure while maintaining accuracy
  • Experience within retail, FMCG or a large corporate environment will be highly regarded
  • Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen or Permanent Resident
