The Opportunity

Australian Industry Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre, in partnership with Orora, is seeking a motivated Mechanical Fitter Apprentice to join the maintenance team at their Dandenong South facility.
This is an excellent opportunity to complete a Certificate III in Engineering - Mechanical Trade while gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work alongside skilled tradespeople, learning the practical and technical skills required to become a qualified Mechanical Fitter.
As an apprentice, you will gain exposure to preventative maintenance, breakdown repairs, fault finding, equipment servicing, technical drawing interpretation, and modern manufacturing systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with preventative maintenance on production equipment
  • Service, repair and maintain manufacturing machinery
  • Support fault finding and troubleshooting activities
  • Learn to interpret technical drawings and engineering plans
  • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively
  • Perform measurements using precision instruments
  • Follow workplace health and safety procedures
  • Work collaboratively within the maintenance team
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment

About You

  • Passionate about engineering and hands-on work
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Reliable, punctual and eager to learn
  • Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Commitment to workplace safety
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Completed Year 10 or equivalent
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident with full working rights
  • Current driver's licence desirable but not essential
