The Corporate Branch provides enabling services that support the effective operation of the agency, with the Finance Section partnering closely with the business to deliver high-quality financial management, budgeting, reporting and advice.
The Opportunity
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced finance professional to join a federal government agency as an APS6 Finance Business Partner.
Working within the finance section, you will partner with business areas across the organisation, providing financial analysis, budgeting and forecasting support and advice to managers and key stakeholders.
The position is initially offered as a non-ongoing opportunity for up to 12 months and provides strong exposure to both internal financial management and Commonwealth external budgeting processes.
The Role
Your responsibilities will include:
- Partnering with managers and stakeholders to support effective budget and forecast management
- Reviewing and analysing actual and forecast expenditure against budgets
- Preparing timely and accurate monthly variance analysis for senior finance leaders and business areas
- Supporting improvements to financial management systems, procedures and reporting
- Assisting with annual external budget requirements, including Portfolio Budget Statements, Estimate Memorandums and New Policy Proposals
- Supporting the preparation and maintenance of the agency’s master budget, annual internal budget and mid-year review processes
- Providing broader support across the finance team as required
The Ideal Person
You will be an experienced finance professional with previous Finance Business Partnering, management accounting or budgeting experience in the public or private sector.
You will have strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to analyse financial information and provide practical advice to managers and senior stakeholders.
A sound understanding of government financial accounting, management accounting and procurement processes is important.
Previous experience with TechnologyOne is desirable but not essential.
Having an existing Baseline clearance is mandatory for this role.

- $102k – $115k + 15.4% Super
