Hays is excited to be partnering with local council whore looking for an experienced Architect to join a high-performing design team responsible for delivering architecture, urban design and public realm projects across a diverse Capital Works program.This is an exciting opportunity for an architecture professional who thrives in a project-based environment, enjoys stakeholder engagement, and is passionate about delivering design excellence in the public realm.
About the RoleThis role offers the opportunity to lead the delivery of architecture, urban design and public realm projects from concept through to completion. You will be responsible for managing project scope, procurement, contract administration, stakeholder engagement and project delivery, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to a high standard. To be successful, you will have proven experience delivering architectural projects and advanced ArchiCAD skills, which are a mandatory requirement for this position.
Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver architecture, urban design and public realm projects from concept through to completion.
  • Prepare architectural presentation material, including masterplans, concept designs, feasibility studies, 3D models and visualisations.
  • Develop comprehensive architectural tender documentation, specifications and construction details.
  • Provide expert architectural and urban design advice to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure project outcomes align with strategic objectives, design excellence principles and organisational standards.
  • Manage multiple small to medium-sized capital works projects simultaneously.
  • Develop project briefs, scopes, budgets, timelines and procurement strategies.
  • Monitor project performance, risks, quality and compliance requirements.
  • Coordinate consultants and contractors to ensure delivery against program objectives.
  • Prepare project reports and provide regular updates to senior stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including planning, engineering, procurement and legal functions.
  • Facilitate meetings, presentations and stakeholder consultations.
  • Manage expectations and resolve issues to achieve successful project outcomes.
  • Manage project budgets, forecast expenditure and monitor cash flow.
  • Assist with contract administration activities including site inspections, shop drawing reviews and progress claims.

Key Selection Criteria

  • Tertiary qualifications in Architecture (degree / masters level) or equivalent professional experience.
  • Proven experience delivering high-value small to medium-scale architecture or public realm projects.
  • Exceptional proficiency in ArchiCAD, with the ability to produce high-quality architectural documentation across all project stages.
  • Demonstrated experience in the coordination, documentation and production of architectural projects, including detailed design and construction documentation.
  • Strong project management capabilities, including managing multiple projects concurrently while meeting deadlines and budget requirements.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Sound understanding of project management methodologies, procurement processes and construction contract administration.
  • Highly developed communication, negotiation and influencing abilities.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite and other relevant design and documentation software, with exposure to 2D and 3D design tools highly regarded.
