The Opportunity
We are seeking an Associate (2+ PQE) to join our General Insurance team in Brisbane, reporting to Partner, Peter Banco.
Working within our Motor Vehicle team, you will act for insurers and self-insured clients across a broad range of motor vehicle property damage, recovery and insurance litigation matters. You will have carriage of your own files, work directly with clients and stakeholders, and play an important role in achieving commercially focused outcomes.

Your Role
- Manage a portfolio of motor vehicle property damage and recovery matters with appropriate autonomy
- Conduct and assist with insurance litigation matters from commencement through to resolution
- Draft correspondence, pleadings, advices, submissions and other legal documents
- Review evidence, assess liability and quantum issues, and contribute to matter strategy
- Provide practical and commercially focused legal advice to clients
- Prepare for and attend mediations, settlement conferences and court appearances
- Brief, instruct and liaise with Counsel and other experts
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, insurers and other stakeholders
- Provide timely reporting and updates to clients
- Mentor and support junior lawyers and law clerks
- Contribute to business development initiatives and team objectives
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A law degree and admission to practise in Australia, together with a current QLD practising certificate
- 2+ years' post admission experience in insurance litigation, commercial litigation or a related dispute resolution practice
- Experience managing matters and progressing files with increasing autonomy
- Strong analytical, drafting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines
- A collaborative approach and commitment to delivering exceptional client service
Desirable
- Experience in defendant insurance litigation
- Exposure to court processes, mediations or dispute resolution
- Experience in motor vehicle, property damage or recovery matters
- Experience mentoring or supervising junior team members
- An interest in developing expertise within general insurance litigation
