QFS PTY LTD is an Australian-owned business specialising

in the supply and installation of PVC fencing, automated gates and related equipment

across Australia.

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Automation Technician to join our team and

contribute to the successful implementation of projects involving the installation,

commissioning and servicing of automated gate systems across a variety of residential,

commercial and industrial sites.

This hands-on technical role is responsible for the installation, configuration, testing,

maintenance, modification and troubleshooting of automated gate systems, including

both swing and sliding gates. The position involves working with gate motors, control

boards, sensors, safety devices, access-control equipment and associated electrical

and electronic components.

The Automation Technician is responsible for diagnosing and resolving electrical,

electronic, mechanical and control-system faults, carrying out system adjustments and

modifications, commissioning newly installed systems, and conducting functional and

safety testing to ensure that automated gates operate correctly, safely and reliably.

The role is essential in ensuring the proper installation, performance and ongoing

reliability of motorised gate systems, contributing to the quality, safety and reputation of

Queensland Fencing Specialists PTY LTD’s services.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Installation and commissioning of automated gate systems

2. Configuration of controllers and automation equipment

3. Installation of motors, sensors, control panels and safety devices

4. Electrical/electronic/mechanical fault diagnosis

5. Troubleshooting and repair

6. Testing and commissioning

7. Preventative and corrective maintenance

8. System modification and upgrades

9. Use of diagnostic/testing equipment

10. Interpretation of wiring diagrams and technical specifications

11. Safety-system testing

12. Access-control integration

13. Technical documentation and maintenance records

14. Report any problems or issues to the appropriate manager

Qualifications and Skills:

We’re looking for someone who has:

- A relevant higher education qualification in industrial automation, automation

engineering, mechatronics, electronic engineering or a related field, with focus on

programming and configuring automation controllers.

- Proven experience as an electrical, electromechanical, or service technician in

automation or manufacturing environments more than 2 years

- Experience, even if limited, with (for example, Siemens, Rockwell, Beckhoff,

and/or FANUC) control systems would be a bonus.

- Right to work in Australia

- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

- Strong communication and time management skills

- Familiarity with tools, materials, and building techniques

- The ability to read construction drawings and follow specifications

- Good physical fitness and the ability to work on your feet

- Strong attention to detail and pride in your work

- Knowledge of health and safety procedures on construction sites
