Bricklayer
- Construct and repair brickwork and blockwork in line with building plans and technical specifications.
- Prepare materials and work areas, lay and align masonry, and use bricklaying tools and measuring equipment.
- Maintain safe work practices and quality standards while working independently and alongside other tradespeople.
F.B. Masonry Pty Ltd, based in Brookvale NSW 2100, is seeking a skilled and experienced Bricklayer for a permanent full-time position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for constructing, installing and repairing brickwork and blockwork structures in accordance with building plans and technical specifications. The role involves preparing materials, laying bricks and masonry blocks, checking structural alignment and maintaining high standards of workmanship and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Reading and interpreting construction plans, drawings and specifications to determine materials, measurements and installation procedures.
- Preparing work areas, foundations and surfaces for bricklaying and masonry construction.
- Mixing and applying mortar to bond bricks, concrete blocks and other masonry materials.
- Laying bricks and blocks to construct walls, partitions, arches and other building structures.
- Measuring, cutting and shaping bricks and masonry blocks using appropriate hand and power tools.
- Checking horizontal and vertical alignment using levels, measuring equipment and established construction techniques.
- Installing damp-resistant materials and preparing mortar beds where required.
- Constructing and repairing brickwork, blockwork and associated masonry structures.
- Erecting and dismantling restricted-height scaffolding where authorised and appropriately trained.
- Ensuring brickwork complies with building plans, construction specifications and quality standards.
- Maintaining tools, equipment and work areas in safe working condition.
- Following workplace health and safety procedures and relevant construction site requirements.
About You
- Relevant trade qualification in Bricklaying or an equivalent recognised qualification.
- At least 1 year of relevant professional experience in bricklaying or masonry construction.
- Demonstrated experience in laying bricks, concrete blocks and other masonry materials.
- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Proficiency in using bricklaying tools, measuring equipment and relevant machinery.
- Sound knowledge of mortar preparation, bricklaying techniques and structural alignment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
- Good physical fitness and ability to perform construction tasks safely.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other tradespeople.
- Understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
