Stax Climbing is seeking an experienced Carpenter to support its construction, installation and facility fit-out activities.

About the Role

This is a hands-on carpentry role supporting the construction, installation and fit-out of bespoke climbing facilities and related structures. The Carpenter will work with timber, plywood panels and other building materials to construct and install structural and fitted components in accordance with project drawings, measurements and specifications.

The role involves workshop and project-site work, including the preparation and assembly of timber components, installation of climbing wall and panel systems, timber framing and associated fit-out works, as well as adjustments, repairs and finishing work. The Carpenter will contribute to the delivery of high-quality climbing facilities, with accurate measurements, careful installation and safe, quality workmanship being essential.

Key Responsibilities

●Read and interpret construction drawings, structural framing plans and specifications to determine materials, dimensions, layouts, and installation requirements.

●Measure, mark and prepare timber, plywood and other materials for carpentry, assembly and installation.

●Cut, shape, join and assemble timber and plywood components using appropriate hand and power tools (e.g., saws, routers, planers).

●Construct and install timber framing, structural walls, mezzanines, and panel systems, structural components and other purpose-built elements for climbing facilities and associated fit-outs including installing floor joists, post-and-beam support systems, and fitting subfloor sheeting.

●Assemble and install prepared timber components, hanging internal and external doors, including the installation of timber jambs, hinges etc., built-in furniture, fixtures and other fitted elements in accordance with project requirements.

●Check measurements, levels, alignment and overall accuracy of completed structures and make adjustments or modifications where required.

●Carry out repairs, replacement and maintenance of existing timber structures, panels, fittings and other installed components.

●Prepare materials and work areas, safely handle tools and equipment, and undertake construction and installation activities in accordance with workplace health and safety requirements.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Skills and Experience:

●Minimum 3 years’ proven experience in carpentry, joinery, timber construction or a closely related trade.

●Demonstrated experience in timber framing, load-bearing structural wall framing, mezzanine floors, joists, subflooring, and installation of timber and panel systems.

●Experience in assembling and installing fitted furniture, shelving, storage units, doors (including jambs, hinges), and other custom timber fixtures.

●Ability to read and interpret construction, and technical drawings, and project specifications and load-bearing requirements.

●Strong practical skills in measuring, marking, cutting, shaping, assembling and fitting timber and plywood components.

●Competence in using common carpentry hand and power tools, including saws, routers and sanders.

●Ability to accurately level, align and secure structural and fitted components, using spirit levels, laser alignment tools, and plumb lines to meet structural tolerances, and undertake adjustments, repairs and maintenance where required.

●Ability to work safely at heights and use relevant access equipment.

●Strong attention to detail, quality workmanship, reliability and ability to work effectively as part of a team.

Qualifications:

●Relevant trade qualification in Carpentry, Joinery, Building and Construction or an equivalent qualification is preferred.

●Substantial relevant trade experience may be considered in lieu of formal carpentry qualifications.

What We Offer

●Competitive remuneration of $86,264.36 per annum.

●Permanent full-time employment at 43 hours per week.

●Stable, ongoing work within a specialized climbing-facility construction and manufacturing environment.

●Opportunity to work on diverse projects involving climbing walls, timber structures and bespoke facility fit-outs, across both workshop and project-site environments.

●Supportive team environment with a strong focus on quality, functionality and workplace safety.
