About the Role
As a Carpenter at ARDENT CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT PTY LTD, you will play a pivotal role in our residential, commercial, and heritage building projects. This position is critical in ensuring that all timber structural frameworks, fixtures, and installations meet our high standards of quality and craftsmanship. You will work closely with project managers, site supervisors, and skilled tradespeople to build, restore, and maintain spaces that exceed client expectations.
Responsibilities
●Measure, cut, construct, and install timber structures, frames, paneling, and fixtures with precision.
●Prepare and inspect sites and work surfaces prior to installation or framing.
●Execute both structural and detailed finishing carpentry tasks according to project specifications and architectural plans.
●Work closely with project managers and site supervisors to ensure strict project deadlines and quality standards are met.
●Maintain a safe, clean, and organized work site in full compliance with WHS regulations and guidelines.
●Handle, inspect, and safely maintain all power tools, hand tools, and materials to ensure site safety and equipment longevity.
●Provide excellent on-site service and communicate effectively with clients, subcontractors, and team members.
Key Duties
●Lay out, measure, level, and prepare timber framing, floor joists, wall studs, roof trusses, and sub-floor systems.
●Build and fit timber formwork, scaffolding, structural supports, cladding, and timber framework in line with project design plans.
●Accurately measure, cut, and fit doors, window frames, staircases, mouldings, skirtings, architraves, and cabinetry fixtures.
●Execute timber repair, restoration, and structural modification on existing residential, commercial, and heritage properties.
●Maintain and safely store carpentry tools and equipment (saws, drills, nail guns, levels, planers), ensuring they are kept in good working order.
●Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and building codes to determine dimensions and material requirements.
●Strictly adhere to Work Health and Safety (WH&S) protocols on site, including proper usage of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and maintaining a hazard-free work space.
●Conduct ongoing quality checks to ensure all timber structures are secure, level, square, and free of defects before hand-off.
●Work seamlessly alongside architects, sub-contractors, and other trade personnel to integrate carpentry tasks with overall construction schedules.
●Efficiently manage time and material resources to complete tasks on budget and within designated timelines.
Who We’re Looking For
ARDENT CONSTRUCTION AND DEVELOPMENT PTY LTD seeks a dedicated and skilled individual with a strong passion for quality carpentry. The ideal candidate will possess:
●Relevant qualification in Carpentry (AQF Certificate III or equivalent).
●Proven experience as a qualified Carpenter (minimum 1 year of post-qualification experience).
●Strong technical expertise in structural framing, fit-outs, blueprint reading, and construction safety.
●Ability to work independently as well as part of a dynamic site team.
●Exceptional attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-standard workmanship.
