You’ll move away from managing your own claims portfolio and into a dedicated Claims Technical Specialist role, supporting consultants and leaders across complex Group Life claims.

Strong TPD focus, but the real mandate is broader: lift technical capability across the claims function through coaching, challenge, quality and smarter decision-making

Your value here isn’t measured by how many claims sit in your name.
It’s in the judgement, technical depth and confidence you bring when a claim needs more.

What You’ll Do

• Provide technical guidance across complex and sensitive claims
• Help shape claim strategy where the answer isn’t obvious
• Review medical, vocational and other claim evidence
• Support complex and adverse claim decisions, including matters above delegated authority
• Interpret policy terms, legislation and delegated authority requirements
• Coach Claims Consultants and Senior Consultants through technical matters
• Adapt your coaching style depending on the individual, situation and level of support required
• Complete technical and quality reviews
• Identify recurring capability gaps and development opportunities
• Contribute to claims procedures, standards and capability initiatives
• Partner with claims leaders on matters requiring deeper technical input

What We’re Looking For

You’ll already have strong technical experience within Life Insurance Claims, ideally within Group Life.

You’re likely someone who:

• Has strong TPD claims experience
• Is confident interpreting complex medical and vocational evidence
• Understands policy terms, legislation and delegated authority
• Has experience with complex or adverse claim decisions
• Is already the person colleagues turn to when they need a second view
• Enjoys coaching and developing others
• Can challenge someone’s thinking without simply taking over the decision
• Knows that the same coaching approach won’t work for every person
• Can adjust your style depending on capability, confidence and the context in front of you

 This is not a siloed Techy role..
 The strongest person will combine technical credibility with emotional intelligence and know when to challenge, coach, ask another question, give more direction or simply give someone confidence in the decision they’ve already reached.
