About the Role
A growing energy business is building out its commercial function and needs a manager to own it. This sits at the point where contracts, negotiation and business strategy meet, partnering with sales, proposals, procurement and legal to keep commercial risk in check and deals moving. You would be the commercial reference point across the business. That means guiding customer negotiations, owning the framework agreements, and holding the standards that protect margin and manage risk without slowing the business down. This role is a genuine build. You get the autonomy to shape how the function runs, direct exposure to the leadership team, and a clear path to grow the remit as the business does.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide commercial guidance across customer contract negotiations, balancing business requirements against client needs.
- Review contract terms against risk thresholds and approval processes, flagging exposure early.
- Own the customer framework agreements: renewals, revisions, amendments and coverage.
- Partner with legal on contract issues, disputes and claim resolution.
- Support proposals with commercial input, pricing alignment and risk identification.
- Maintain an accurate contract database and report commercial insight back to stakeholders.
- Monitor commercial risk across the portfolio and support audits.
About You
- Solid background in commercial contracts, contract administration or proposals, ideally within energy, resources or industrial services.
- Formal qualification in business, law, commerce or similar.
- Strong understanding of contractual terms, commercial risk and negotiation.
- Comfortable in a matrix structure, working across functions and under time pressure.
- Clear communicator who can hold a line with clients while keeping the relationship intact.
- Full Australian working rights (essential).
