COOK - SEA SPICE KITCHEN

Position: Full-time | Permanent | 38 hours per week

Location: Shop 1/432 Nepean Highway, Frankston VIC 3199

Salary: $79,500–$80,000 per annum plus superannuation, based on experience

About the role

Sea Spice Kitchen is seeking a skilled Cook for our Frankston cafe, restaurant and bar. Our coastal fusion menu features seafood, Indian-inspired curries, pasta, grilled dishes and breakfast favourites. You will prepare meals to order and maintain consistent flavour, quality and presentation.

Key duties

  • Inspect deliveries and ingredients, including seafood, meat and produce, for freshness, quality and suitability.
  • Complete daily preparation and cook seafood, curries, pasta, breakfast dishes and other menu items to established recipes.
  • Prepare marinades, spice mixtures and sauces; taste dishes and adjust seasoning to maintain consistent flavour.
  • Set and monitor ovens, grills, fryers and cooktops, controlling heat and cooking times for each dish.
  • Measure servings and plate meals with suitable accompaniments and finishing touches to presentation standards.
  • Label, date and rotate ingredients; monitor refrigeration and freezing, and follow safe cooling and reheating procedures.
  • Adapt suitable dishes for dietary needs and manage allergy requests in consultation with the kitchen team.
  • Contribute to menu specials, estimate preparation quantities, identify stock needs and minimise food waste.
  • Guide junior kitchen staff when required and coordinate orders with colleagues during service.
  • Maintain clean work areas and equipment, prevent cross-contamination and follow food safety and workplace safety procedures.

Qualifications

Relevant qualification, such as Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent

Experience

Minimum 1-2 years of relevant work experience as a Cook in an Indian restaurant or similar hospitality environment.

Applicants must demonstrate practical cooking skills suited to our restaurant menu.
