Ruma Rooftop Pty Ltd seeks a passionate Cook to join our dynamic kitchen team. Set in the heart of New Farm, Ruma is a rooftop escape shaped by tropical warmth and effortless style. The restaurant offers quality-led dining using fresh, seasonal produce and a vibrant, considered cocktail and wine list. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and skilled professional who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and is eager to grow and contribute creatively to a dynamic menu.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

1. Inspect food preparation and serving areas to ensure quality.
2. Prepare, season and cook food according to the restaurant menu or any such food items from time to time introduced by the restaurant.
3. Observance of safe, sanitary food-handling practices.
4. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
5. Regulate temperatures of kitchen equipment such as ovens and grills.
6. Substitute for or assist other cooks where required.
7. Bake, roast, grill, or steam fish, meats, vegetables, and other foods.
8. Portioning, plating and garnishing food.
9. Coordinate with and supervise work of kitchen staff.
10. Consult with supervisory staff to plan menus, taking into consideration factors such as costs, special event needs and dietary requirements.
11. Train other kitchen staff and apprentices when required.

Desirable Criteria

1. Minimum 3 years of relevant experience, or Certificate 3 including two years of on-the-job training, Certificate 4 or above.
2. Proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-first environment.
3. Exceptional levels of cleanliness and organisation.
4. Good communication skills.

We are offering excellent working conditions and an annual salary package of $80,000-$83,000 plus Superannuation.
