About the Job

The Shire of Esperance is seeking a Building Surveyor or Senior Building Surveyor to join our External Services team.

This is an exciting opportunity to apply your technical expertise, work closely with the community, and play a key role in supporting safe, compliant and sustainable development across the Esperance region.

As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for providing professional advice and assessment services, ensuring building applications are processed efficiently and in accordance with legislative requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

• Assessing and processing building applications within statutory timeframes while delivering exceptional customer service.
• Providing clear and practical advice to the public on building, property and regulatory matters.
• Conducting building inspections and preparing detailed reports.
• Resolving complex technical building matters using investigation, negotiation and professional judgement.

This is a full time position, working 38 hours per week.  

About you 

To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Registration as a Building Surveyor in Australia and relevant formal qualifications.
• Strong knowledge of the National Construction Code and associated Standards.
• Proven ability to assess building plans and specifications accurately and efficiently.
• Sound judgement and problem-solving skills when dealing with complex building approval matters.
• Strong communication skills and a commitment to providing high-quality customer service.
