Senior Security Engineer-Digital venture/ Banking
- Strengthen Azure cloud security controls and support security operations, including detection engineering and improvements to Microsoft Sentinel and Defender.
- Automate DevSecOps and manage security configurations as code, working with identity and access technologies such as Microsoft Entra.
- Provide practical security guidance to technical and business stakeholders while independently managing priorities in a small, multidisciplinary team.
A leading fast-moving venture organisation backed by a major bank is seeking a Senior Security Engineer for an initial 6 month contract highly likely to extend.
Ideal candidate will have broad security experience across security operations, devsecops, cloud security and security engineering.
Responsibilities:
- Strengthen cloud security controls Azure environments.
- Support security operations, including detection engineering and improvements across Microsoft Sentinel and Microsoft Defender.
- Contribute to DevSecOps automation and manage security configuration through code.
- Work with identity and access technologies, including Microsoft Entra.
- Assess priorities, respond to changing demands and escalate risks constructively.
- Partner with technical and business stakeholders to provide practical security guidance.
- Work independently from broad direction while collaborating closely with a small, multidisciplinary team.
Key skills / Experience:
- Senior-level, hands-on experience across security engineering, cloud security or security operations.
- Strong experience with the Microsoft security ecosystem, particularly Microsoft Defender, Sentinel and Entra.
- Practical cloud security experience in Azure.
- Experience with DevSecOps practices, security automation and infrastructure as code; Terraform exposure is highly regarded.
- Demonstrated ability to manage security configuration as code rather than relying solely on manual administration.
- Sound understanding of detection engineering, vulnerability management and security operations.
- Experience in fintech, financial services or another regulated environment.
- A track record of working successfully across both startup-style and enterprise environments.
