Protech is seeking motivated and reliable Field Officers to join the Fire Ant Eradication Program with Biosecurity Queensland, working from the Laidley Depot. This is an excellent opportunity for people who enjoy working outdoors, exploring different environments, and being part of an important initiative protecting Queensland from invasive pests.
As a Field Officer, you’ll spend your days conducting surveillance and treatment activities across Southern Queensland, working as part of a supportive team dedicated to safeguarding local ecosystems, agriculture, and communities.

About the role
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Conducting visual surveillance for fire ants and other insect pests
- Applying bait treatments in targeted areas
- Recording field observations and collecting accurate data
- Completing daily reports and record-keeping activities
- Driving a company vehicle between assigned locations
- Engaging with members of the public and providing information when required
What we’re looking for
Successful candidates will:
- Hold a current open driver’s licence
- Enjoy working outdoors in all weather conditions
- Have experience in landscaping, agriculture, arboriculture, conservation, land management, civil works, or other physically active outdoor roles
- Be physically fit and capable of walking up to 10-15km per day across varied and challenging terrain
- Have strong communication and customer service skills
- Work well within a team environment
- Be committed to safety and following procedures
Pre-employment requirements
- Ability to pass a Drug & Alcohol Screening
- Ability to obtain and pass a National Police Check
