Due to growth, we're seeking an Engineering Manager to join their team. The Engineering Manager is a dynamic, high-performance leader responsible for driving the velocity, accuracy, and commercial impact of our client's engineering function. With a strong customer-first mindset, this role ensures the delivery of timely, practical, and compliant engineering solutions that support operational excellence and enhance customer satisfaction.
The Engineering Manager provides clear leadership across workflow management, delegation, and team capability, ensuring tasks are owned at the right level and that engineering operates with discipline, urgency, and transparency. The Engineering Manager maintains real-time visibility of engineering workloads, progress, and blockers through the CRM, delivering weekly executive updates and ensuring all tasks have clear owners, deadlines, and priorities.
The role:
- Own and maintain the Product Data Management (PDM) system, ensuring effective control of drawings, BOMs, routings, and technical documentation.
- Ensure visibility of engineering workflows, including task status, priorities, blockers, and deadlines.
- Maintain visibility across the team regarding what is completed, outstanding, or delaying progress.
- Allocate checking and verification tasks at the right level to effectively to avoid bottlenecks.
- Elevate all high-risk engineering issues promptly for executive visibility and decision support.
- Provide executive level weekly updates on velocity, workload, and forward planning.
- Build the teams capability through coaching, support, accountability and clear expectations.
- Reduce escalation of minor detail to executive through strong internal communications, control and structure.
- Demonstrate and lead urgency in actions, decisions, and communication through the team.
- Facilitate weekly team meetings to align expectations and workloads. Support with one on ones.
- Engage proactively with Technical Sales Experts to support customer responsiveness and commercial requirements.
- Identify commercial opportunities working with the MD, COO, and Sales Team to develop new service offerings, IP, and revenue streams.
- Drive continuous improvement in engineering processes, tools, and systems to increase efficiency, consistency, and quality.
What we're looking for:
- Degree qualifications in Engineering (Mechanical).
- 5-10 years of engineering management or senior engineering leadership experience in manufacturing, mining, or related industries.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with proven ability to build and lead teams.
- Technical expertise in engineering design, CAD, and manufacturing processes.
- Demonstrated problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, quality standards, and compliance requirements.
- Ability to prioritise and deliver in a fast-paced, custom project environment.
- Demonstrated expertise in Product Data Management (PDM), Vault, SolidWorks, CAD systems, and engineering documentation control.
- Demonstrated capability in Additive Manufacturing (AM) applications, including design for AM,
- Exposure to ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 systems and continuous improvement frameworks.
