Your new role
You will be responsible for operating and maintaining plasma cutting machines and brake press (bending) equipment within a busy fabrication workshop. Reporting to the Workshop Supervisor, youll work alongside boilermakers, welders, and trade assistants to ensure production targets and quality standards are met.
- Operating CNC plasma cutting machines to cut structural steel components
- Operating brake press machines to bend and form steel accurately
- Performing machine setup, adjustments, and basic programming (where required)
- Ensuring all components meet precise measurements and tolerances
- Conducting routine maintenance and safety checks on machinery
- Working collaboratively with the workshop team to meet deadlines
What you'll need to succeed
- Proven experience operating plasma cutting and/or brake press machines
- Ability to read and interpret technical/engineering drawings
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience working in a structural steel or fabrication environment
- Good understanding of workplace safety practices
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work both independently and in a team
- Forklift ticket is a must
