Are you an experienced building inspector, asset assessor, or maintenance professional looking for your next contract opportunity? We are currently seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Condition Assessor to join a large public sector organisation on a temporary contract through to June 2027.Based in Cairns, this role offers the opportunity to travel throughout Far North Queensland, conducting condition assessments across a diverse portfolio of facilities and assets. You will play a key role in supporting a significant inspection and audit program, helping inform maintenance planning, asset management, and investment decisions.
Your new role
As a Condition Assessor, you will be responsible for undertaking audits and condition inspections across a range of facilities and assets. Working both independently and collaboratively, you will collect and analyse condition data to support maintenance prioritisation and future planning activities.Key responsibilities include:

• Conducting condition assessments and on-site inspections across nominated assets and facilities
• Identifying building defects, deterioration, compliance issues, and maintenance requirements
• Collecting, recording, and maintaining accurate asset condition data
• Preparing detailed inspection reports and supporting documentation
• Reviewing technical drawings, plans, specifications, and asset information
• Providing recommendations to support maintenance planning and asset management outcomes
• Liaising with internal stakeholders and site representatives to coordinate inspections and communicate findings
• Ensuring compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and relevant industry standards

What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will have:

• Qualifications, trade background or relevant experience in construction, building inspection, asset maintenance or a related discipline
• Previous experience undertaking condition assessments, asset inspections or audit-based programs
• Strong knowledge of building defects, maintenance requirements and compliance obligations
• The ability to interpret technical drawings, plans and specifications
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Proficiency across Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
• A current C Class Driver Licence
• Construction Industry White Card
• Commitment to safe work practices and workplace health and safety standards
