The Opportunity:
  
An exciting opportunity is available for an experienced Project Manager to lead the successful delivery of civil construction projects from planning through to completion. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will oversee multiple project elements, provide leadership and mentoring to project teams, and ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.
  
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Providing leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to project teams while fostering a positive and high-performing project culture.
  • Managing project delivery activities to ensure works comply with specifications, approvals, legislative requirements, industry standards, and client expectations.
  • Reviewing designs and construction methodologies and recommending practical improvements to optimise project outcomes and construction efficiency.
  • Overseeing site construction programs, procurement schedules, staging requirements, logistics, resources, and project timelines to achieve successful delivery outcomes.
  • Exercising professional judgement to resolve engineering, construction, design, and operational challenges that arise throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Managing project financial performance through forecasting, budgeting, cost control, and identification of opportunities to improve project profitability.
  • Assessing and verifying subcontractor claims, variations, and contractual obligations while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.

Your Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (Civil) or a related tertiary qualification.
  • Minimum of 8 years’ experience within the civil construction industry, including experience leading complex infrastructure or construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of civil construction methodologies, engineering principles, specifications, drawings, plans, and project documentation.
  • Proven ability to manage project budgets, financial performance, procurement activities, subcontractors, and contract variations.
  • Experience overseeing project safety, quality, environmental compliance, and risk management activities.
  • Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to mentor, coach, and develop project team members.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and experience using construction management and project delivery software such as Procore and Trimble Business Centre or similar platforms.

This is a full-time, ongoing position based in Cairns, working Monday to Friday. Applicants must be able to work from Cairns and have the legal right to work in Australia in a manner that allows them to meet the ongoing requirements of the position.
