We're seeking an experienced Team Leader Recreation Planning to join a progressive local government organisation on an initial 36 month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in shaping recreation services, facilities and strategic planning initiatives that positively impact the community.
Your new role
Reporting into a senior leadership team, you will lead the recreation planning function, providing strategic advice and direction across recreation services, community infrastructure and stakeholder engagement activities. You'll work closely with sporting clubs, community groups and internal stakeholders to identify future recreation needs and help drive investment priorities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and review of recreation plans, strategies and policies.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with sporting clubs, community groups and key stakeholders.
- Identify current and future recreation service needs through research and community engagement.
- Provide strategic advice on recreation facilities, service delivery and infrastructure priorities.
- Support funding applications, business cases and advocacy initiatives.
- Lead consultation activities and facilitate positive stakeholder outcomes.
- Mentor and support recreation planning staff while contributing to a collaborative team culture.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you'll bring:
- Experience in recreation planning, sport and recreation, community development, open space planning or a related discipline.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and community consultation skills.
- Experience developing strategies, policies and service plans.
- Excellent report writing and communication skills.
- An ability to balance competing priorities and deliver outcomes in a fast-paced environment.
- Previous local government experience will be highly regarded
