Job Description

Dental Assistant

The Dental Assistant supports the Dental Operator in delivering high-quality patient care. The role involves preparing patients for treatment, assisting during clinical procedures, maintaining infection control standards, processing dental materials and imaging, and performing administrative duties to ensure the efficient operation of the dental practice.

Daily tasks include:

- Assist dentists with a broad range of clinical procedures by providing chairside support and ensuring all required instruments and materials are available.

- Prepare patients for treatment, explain procedures, and help maintain a positive and comfortable patient experience.

- Perform sterilisation and infection control activities in accordance with Australian dental practice standards and workplace protocols.

- Manage dental equipment and materials, including the preparation of instruments, treatment rooms, and dental radiography equipment.

- Record and update patient information, assist with treatment planning documentation, and maintain accurate clinical records.

- Coordinate appointments, process payments, manage inventory and supplies, and provide administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of the practice.

Requirements:

- AQF Certificate II or III in Dental Assisting (or equivalent) or at least one year of relevant experience

- At least 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Dental Assistant.

- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and materials.

- Understanding of infection control and sterilisation practices.

- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced clinical environment.

- High level of attention to detail and organisational skills.

- Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism.

Annual salary: $79,423-$85,000 + superannuation (full time, 38 hours per week)
