Your New Role

The primary purpose of the Team Leader, Youth Services position is to serve as a critical member of the Victorian leadership team, providing operational leadership of the youth community programs. In this role, you will:

  • Ensure that the team meets all relevant service targets and standards, and prepare reports on performance as required.
  • Manage a team of youth work practitioners who provide varied support to young people at risk of homelessness and community disconnection.
  • Ensure the provision of strong and consistent practice and general supervision support that ensures ongoing growth and development of contemporary youth work skills and capabilities, as well as nurturing a high functioning and collaborative team that has a clear shared purpose, and a commitment to high performance and strong community outcomes.
  • Identify and maintain priority stakeholder relationships
  • Provide regular quality supervision to youth work practitioners, in accordance with Kids First Policy and Procedures.
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage program risks and provide advice and expertise into the development of program improvements and program resources regarding best practice delivery.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following skills, experience, and qualifications:

  • Highly developed written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience in a role with supervisory capacity and leadership responsibility for a team.
  • Relevant qualifications in Community Development, Management, or Youth Work, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated advanced expertise, skills and experience working with young people who are affected by family violence, child abuse, homelessness and other complex needs.
  • Your personal value set that is aligned with Kids First organisational values and you have a commitment to personal professional development.
