About Us

Billy Beet Childcare & Kindergarten is a family owned early learning centre located in Templestowe Lower, Victoria. We provide a welcoming, safe and nurturing environment where children can learn, play, explore and develop at their own pace.

Our purpose built centre offers early childhood education and care for children aged six weeks to six years. We combine Montessori inspired learning with play based activities to encourage children's independence, creativity, confidence and social development.

About the Role

As a Childcare Worker, you will be responsible for providing daily care and supervision to young children while supporting their learning, wellbeing and social development. You will work closely with other educators to create a safe, engaging and enjoyable environment where every child feels supported and valued.

Key Responsibilities

1. Provide attentive care and supervision to children throughout their daily activities, ensuring their safety, comfort and wellbeing.
2. Prepare and organise educational materials, toys and equipment for indoor and outdoor learning and recreational activities.
3. Plan and conduct age appropriate activities, including storytelling, arts and crafts, music, games and creative play.
4. Encourage positive behaviour, guide children's social interactions and help them develop confidence, independence and communication skills.
5. Engage children through reading, singing, imaginative play and other enjoyable activities that support their learning and development.
6. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor play, group activities, meal times, rest periods and other daily routines.
7. Assist children with personal hygiene, toileting, handwashing, dressing and other daily care needs, while encouraging independence.
8. Maintain a clean, organised and safe learning environment, including preparing play areas and cleaning toys and equipment.
9. Observe children's behaviour, interests and development, and share relevant information with senior educators and families.
10. Work collaboratively with colleagues and communicate positively with parents and caregivers to support each child's individual needs.

Qualifications and Experience

To be considered for this position, applicants should meet the following requirements:

1. Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care, Diploma of Early Childhood Education and Care, or another recognised equivalent qualification.
2. Applicants who are actively working towards an approved early childhood education and care qualification may also be considered, subject to applicable regulatory requirements.
3. Previous experience working in a childcare centre, kindergarten or early childhood education environment is highly regarded.
4. A sound understanding of children's developmental needs, daily care routines and age appropriate learning activities.
5. Familiarity with the Early Years Learning Framework and National Quality Framework would be an advantage.
6. An interest in Montessori education and play based learning is desirable, although previous Montessori experience is not essential.

Checks and Safety Requirements

Applicants must have, or be willing to obtain where appropriate:

1. A valid Victorian Employee Working with Children Check or clearance.
2. A satisfactory National Police Check, if required as part of the recruitment and screening process.
3. Current approved First Aid training, including CPR, anaphylaxis management and emergency asthma management, or willingness to obtain the relevant training.
4. Completion of required child protection and child safety training.
5. The ability to comply with all applicable child safety, health, hygiene and early childhood education policies and procedures.
