We have a great opportunity for an experienced specialist Medical Receptionist who prides themselves on their patient care skillset. You will work for a leading orthopaedic surgeon and his team in East Melbourne. Bring your positive attitude, empathy and eagerness to excel in a supportive team.

The successful applicant will be comfortable with the day-to-day requirements of a busy specialist surgical practice and will pride themselves on their attention to detail and patient care.
Responsibilities include:
- Welcoming patients into the practice in a friendly, empathetic and efficient manner
- Answering phones in a professional and courteous manner
- Meet and greet patients, assist in managing a consulting session, and patient appointments
- Preparing for on-site and off-site consulting sessions, including filing documents
- Processing patient payments and Medicare claims; issuing receipts
- Liaising with patients, anaesthetists, hospitals, pathology, radiology, and maintenance personnel
- Managing reception email inbox
- Ability to work independently with initiative and love being part of a team
- Performing general admin duties such as scanning, faxing, mail sorting, filing and follow-up patient enquiries
- Experience in working well under pressure and multitasking in a busy environment
- Proofreading and emailing patient letters and reports
- Obtaining results and maintaining patient records
- Supporting and assisting the Surgeon and fellow administrative staff in a range of administration and ad-hoc tasks.
- Use of Xestro software on Apple Mac (or similar)
Essential Criteria
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Able to work autonomously and as part of a delightful small team.
- Highly organised, proactive, with a high standard of accuracy and attention to detail
- IT savvy (Use of Xestro – experience preferred)
- Surgical Specialist rooms experience essential
Hours and days:
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday– 8.30 am – 5.00 pm.
