PAINTER (PAINTING TRADES WORKER)
- Prepare surfaces for painting by cleaning and sanding.
- Apply paint, stain, and varnish using various tools and techniques.
- Maintain a clean work environment and follow safety procedures.
PAINTER (PAINTING TRADES WORKER) required for a well-established Australian company “PABLA PAINTING PTY LTD” located in BONNIE BROOK VIC 3335. Prospective applicants must have prior experience of working commercially as a Painter. Duties include.
- Preparing the site for painting by cleaning, sanding, and removing the old paint and wallpapers where required.
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel to equipment, buildings, houses, and other structures using brushes, spray guns or rollers.
- Secure the painting area from any damage by laying drop sheets, plastic sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering
- Applying masking tape around the windows and glass.
- Apply primers or sealers to prepare new surfaces such as bare wood/metal for finish coats.
- Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
- Fill cracks, holes and joints with caulk, putty, plaster, or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
- Mix and match colours of paint, stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives to obtain desired colours and consistencies.
- Polish final coats to specified finishes.
- Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors to determine work requirements.
- Remove fixtures such as pictures, doorknobs, lamps, and electric switch covers prior to painting.
- Smooth surfaces, using sandpaper, scrapers, brushes, steel wool and/or sanding machines.
- Wash and treat surfaces with oil, turpentine, mildew remover, or other preparations and sand rough spots to ensure that finishes will adhere properly.
- Cut stencils and brush and spray lettering and decorations on surfaces.
- Erect scaffolding and swing gates or set up ladders to work above ground level.
- Spray or brush hot plastics or pitch onto surfaces.
- Use special finishing techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering or faux finishing.
- Follow established protection procedures.
- Clean up job site after work and return equipment and tools.

Applicants with formal qualifications (AQF Certificate III in painting and decorating) with at least 1 - 2 years of practical experience will be prioritised. Position is available full time, 38 hours/week but applicant must be available for 6 days a week and willing to work odd hours (Weekend & early morning/late night shifts). Another mandatory requirement is a driving licence & a vehicle. Applicants must be willing to travel across Victoria to perform work in urban and regional locations.
