KEY POINTS WE FOUND
  • Join a team of skilled veterinarians at Bendigo Equine Hospital.
  • Manage reproductive mares and provide neonatal care.
  • Deliver both hospital-based and ambulatory general practitioner services.

About Us

The Victorian Equine Group operates Bendigo Equine Hospital and several satellite locations in the Lancefield region, the Nagambie region and in Victoria’s northern regions. Our practice services a number of studs in these areas, therefore a large proportion of our work includes reproductive and neonatal medicine in the breeding season.

The Bendigo Equine Hospital is a first opinion, referral and 24/7 emergency medical facility. Our team is highly skilled and features both surgical and reproductive specialists, ambulatory and hospital-based clinicians.

Beyond the hospital, Bendigo offers an outstanding lifestyle – a vibrant regional city with a welcoming community. Enjoy the beautiful countryside and a relaxed pace of life all while being just a short drive from Melbourne.

About You

We are seeking an experienced reproductive veterinarian to join our team for the 2026 breeding season. It is essential that you are confident in managing large herds of reproductive mares whilst building rapport with stud farms. You will also be responsible for on-farm neonatal care and general stud medicine whilst being supported by the vets and facilities at our referral hospital.

Along with stud work, you will deliver both hospital-based and ambulatory general practitioner services. You should be confident in managing daily clinical challenges and be familiar with the operations of a busy equine hospital, all while benefiting from the support of experienced surgeons and specialists. You will participate in a sustainable, equally shared after hours roster.

We are looking for a dedicated reproductive vet with strong work ethic, excellent relationship building-skills and a commitment to providing exceptional care.

Your skillset includes:

Reproductive Medicine: Proficiency in managing reproductive mares with clinical challenges (live cover, fresh and frozen AI).

Neonatal Care: Experience in the management of high-risk foals and routine neonatal health checks.

General Practice: Ability to provide routine and emergency ambulatory services.

Bachelor of Veterinary Science or equivalent degree which is recognised in Victoria

As part of Apiam Animal Health, Australia’s leading large/mixed animal veterinary group, we are committed to enriching the lives of animals, people and the communities where we live. There are opportunities to further develop skills at other Equine Hospitals within our company. We provide a professional and rewarding work environment with a competitive salary package:

  • Equipment: A fully equipped veterinary vehicle and phone.
  • Professional Development: A generous CPD package
  • Support: Membership fees and Victorian veterinary registration covered.
  • Work-Life Balance: After-hours compensation and 4 weeks annual leave with flexible options for additional unpaid leave.
