Position Purpose

The Cook is responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of café-style meals in accordance with established recipes and service standards.

This role supports daily kitchen operations by ensuring timely food preparation, consistency in presentation and taste, and adherence to food safety requirements. The position contributes to maintaining efficient workflow during peak service periods and overall customer satisfaction.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

• Prepare and cook a range of café-style dishes including breakfast items, grill meals, burgers, pasta, and light meals.

• Assist in food preparation including chopping, marinating, portioning, and ingredient setup.

• Follow standard recipes and presentation guidelines to maintain consistency in food quality.

• Operate kitchen equipment including grills, fryers, ovens, and food preparation tools.

• Monitor cooking times, temperatures, and portion sizes to ensure quality control

• Ensure timely preparation and service of food during busy periods.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of kitchen workstations and equipment.

• Assist with stock control, ingredient storage, and stock rotation.

• Ensure proper handling and storage of food in accordance with food safety standards.

• Minimize food wastage through efficient preparation and portion control.

• Work collaboratively with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth service.

• Adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) and hygiene regulations at all times.

Qualifications and Experience

• Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent or higher qualification.

• Minimum 1 year of relevant full-time experience as a Cook in a commercial kitchen.

• Experience in café-style or fast-paced kitchen environments preferred.

• Knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and kitchen operations.

• Ability to work efficiently under pressure and manage multiple tasks during service.

• Strong attention to detail in food preparation and presentation.

• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.

• Reliable, punctual, and able to work flexible shifts including weekends.

Employment Type: Full-Time, Permanent

Salary: $70,000 – $85,000 per annum + Superannuation
