SkillQuest Solutions are seeking an experienced Fleet Manager on behalf of our client, an established transport and haulage business located in Cairns, Queensland.

Providing transport and delivery services to the construction and building materials industry, the business operates a fleet of vehicles to support reliable and efficient deliveries. With a strong focus on vehicle reliability, safety, customer service and efficient transport operations, this is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Fleet Manager to join a busy and growing transport environment.

Salary – $75,000 - $85,000 plus superannuation per annum

Employment Type – Full-time, Permanent

THE ROLE:

We are seeking an organised and hands-on Fleet Manager to coordinate the day-to-day operation, maintenance and utilisation of the company’s vehicle fleet.

Working closely with drivers, dispatch teams, customers, suppliers and service providers, you will be responsible for ensuring vehicles are maintained and available for operation, coordinating transport schedules and deliveries, maintaining fleet records and supporting safe and efficient transport operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

  • Coordinate the day-to-day operation and utilisation of the company’s vehicle fleet.
  • Organise vehicle servicing, maintenance and repairs to ensure fleet reliability and minimise operational downtime.
  • Monitor vehicle condition, coordinate inspections and defect reporting, and ensure identified faults and servicing requirements are addressed promptly.
  • Receive transport requirements and coordinate delivery schedules, routes and vehicle allocation with dispatch teams, drivers and customers.
  • Arrange and monitor the collection and delivery of goods to ensure transport requirements and customer timeframes are met.
  • Liaise with customers regarding delivery requirements, site access, scheduling and changes to transport arrangements.
  • Maintain accurate fleet and operational records, including vehicle servicing, fuel usage, driver documentation, delivery records and associated reports.
  • Monitor fleet operating requirements including vehicle usage, fuel, maintenance and equipment requirements.
  • Ensure transport activities comply with relevant road transport, workplace health and safety, vehicle weight and work-hour requirements.
  • Support safe loading and transport practices, including appropriate load restraint and cargo requirements where applicable.
  • Identify opportunities to improve fleet utilisation, scheduling, vehicle reliability and overall transport efficiency.
  • Prepare and maintain operational information and reports relating to fleet and transport activities.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR:

  • A relevant qualification, such as a Diploma of Logistics, Business or a related discipline (or agreed equivalent).
  • A minimum of 1 year of relevant in fleet management, transport operations or a comparable role.
  • Sound understanding of fleet maintenance, vehicle servicing requirements and defect management.
  • Experience coordinating transport schedules, routes, drivers and deliveries.
  • Knowledge of road transport, vehicle safety and workplace health and safety requirements.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills with the ability to manage competing operational priorities.
  • Experience maintaining fleet, delivery, fuel and operational records.
  • Confident computer skills, including Microsoft Office, email and transport-related administrative systems.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills with the ability to liaise effectively with drivers, customers, suppliers and service providers.
  • Ability to work effectively in a busy and fast-paced transport environment.
  • You must have unrestricted working rights to work full time in Australia to be eligible for consideration.

WHAT IS ON OFFER:

  • A competitive salary of $75,000 to $85,000 plus superannuation per annum, dependent on experience.
