Darwin Mazda is a proud family-owned dealership in Australia’s Top End, with a modern, spacious workshop in Berrimah.
We are looking for an experienced, proactive Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. You will carry out technical testing, investigate mechanical faults and support the installation and assessment of vehicle components and systems.

Key responsibilities include:
- Conduct diagnostic and performance tests on vehicle engines, transmissions, braking, steering and suspension systems.
- Collect and analyse test results, measurements and diagnostic data to identify faults and recommend corrective action.
- Provide technical findings and reports to support investigations with manufacturer engineering and technical support teams.
- Assemble, install and test replacement or modified mechanical components in accordance with approved specifications.
- Interpret technical drawings, workshop manuals and manufacturer specifications.
- Check completed work against manufacturer tolerances, safety requirements and performance standards.
- Select appropriate testing equipment, tools and components, and estimate materials required.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, test results and technical work.
- Follow workshop procedures and workplace health and safety requirements.
To be considered, you will have:
- A Diploma or higher qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, or substantial relevant experience.
- Practical experience testing, diagnosing and assessing automotive mechanical systems.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to interpret technical data and specifications.
- Experience using diagnostic equipment and precision measuring tools.
- Good communication skills and a careful, organised approach.
- A current driver’s licence.
- Mazda experience is desirable, but not essential.
