Procurement Officer (APS5/APS6 Equivalent)
Location: Barton, ACT
Duration: 12 months with potential 12-month extension
Clearance: NV1 or higher
Hourly Rate: APS5: $59 - $63 per hour | APS6: $65 - $73 per hour
Our government client is seeking experienced Procurement Officers to support procurement, contract management and financial administration activities within a government environment.
This role will suit candidates with strong Australian Government procurement experience, sound contract management capabilities, and the ability to work independently while managing competing priorities. You will support procurement planning and tender processes, manage contracts and supplier relationships, provide procurement advice, and contribute to compliant and effective procurement outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and manage procurement activities, including labour hire procurements.
- Prepare procurement documentation, approvals and evaluation materials.
- Administer tender processes and procurement documentation.
- Manage contracts, supplier relationships, extensions, renewals and contract close-out activities.
- Create and maintain contracts and purchase orders within SAP or similar systems.
- Provide procurement and contract management advice in line with government policies and requirements.
- Manage invoice processing, financial administration and reporting activities.
- Maintain accurate records, document management and mailbox administration.
- Support contract administration and resolve procurement-related issues.
- Undertake additional duties as required.
Skills and Experience
- Minimum four years' experience in Australian Government procurement.
- Strong understanding of Australian Government procurement frameworks and the PGPA Act.
- Demonstrated contract management experience.
- Experience supporting or overseeing public sector procurement activities.
- Ability to analyse suppliers, markets and service categories to support procurement planning.
- Experience supporting tender evaluation, reporting and approvals.
- Experience using SAP or similar financial and procurement systems.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, communication and organisational skills.
