Tyre Fitter
- Perform tyre maintenance, repairs and replacements on various vehicles.
- Conduct inspections and maintain accurate maintenance records.
- Contribute to safety programs and continuous improvement initiatives.
We are currently seeking an experienced Tyre Fitter at our Coppabella Moorvale Mine. Our Coppabella Moorvale mine complex consists of two open-cut mine operations located approximately 140 kilometres southwest of Mackay that produce premium low-volatile pulverised coal (LV-PCI) for export markets.
About the Role
Reporting to the Tyre Bay Supervisor, you will play a key role in ensuring our mining fleet remains operational and available to meet production targets. This hands-on position is responsible for delivering safe, reliable, and high-quality tyre maintenance services across a diverse range of mining equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform tyre maintenance, repairs and replacements on light, medium and heavy vehicles in a safe and productive manner.
- Conduct tread depth measurements, pressure checks and inspections across heavy earthmoving equipment.
- Complete tyre and wheel assembly inspections, repairs and refits.
- Participate in pre-start meetings and effective shift handovers.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and detailed end-of-shift reports.
- Assist in minimising equipment downtime through effective planning and timely execution of maintenance activities.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives and site safety programs.
- Identify and report hazards to support a safe working environment.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety and possess the following:
- Previous experience in tyre maintenance systems.
- OTR tyre fitting experience in a mining environment, or substantial experience fitting tyres on light and heavy vehicles.
- A proactive approach to safety, quality and teamwork.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a dynamic mining environment.
The following qualifications and competencies are highly regarded:
- Certificate II in Heavy Vehicle Tyre Fitting.
- RII competencies or equivalent, including:
- Select tyres and wheels for specific applications.
- Remove, inspect, repair and refit tyres and tubes.
- Remove, inspect and refit wheel and tyre assemblies.
- Forklift Licence.
