AV TECHNICIAN - RESIDENTIAL & HOME AUTOMATION EXPERIENCE

$120K-$140K + Super + Fully Maintained Vehicle
Sydney | Full-Time Permanent | Commercial AV Projects

TAKE YOUR HOME AV EXPERIENCE INTO COMMERCIAL INTEGRATION

Built your experience installing home cinemas, multiroom audio, smart home systems and integrated AV in high-end homes?

Your skills could be exactly what we're looking for.

We're recruiting an experienced AV Installation & Commissioning Technician for an established national AV integrator delivering commercial audio visual and workplace technology projects.

This opportunity suits a residential AV technician ready to apply their installation, configuration and troubleshooting skills to larger projects, with support from experienced project managers, programmers and technical specialists.

Residential AV and home automation backgrounds are encouraged. Previous commercial AV experience is highly regarded, but isn't essential if you bring strong transferable technical skills.

WHAT'S ON OFFER?

  • $120K-$140K + Super, depending on experience and technical capability

  • Fully maintained company vehicle

  • Overtime available

  • Exposure to corporate, education, government and other commercial AV projects

  • Ongoing technical training and manufacturer certifications

  • Opportunities to develop further in commissioning, site leadership or project management

  • An experienced team to support your transition into commercial systems

THE ROLE

You'll help deliver integrated AV projects from installation through to testing, commissioning and client handover.

Much of the work will draw on skills you already use in residential integration: tidy installations, well-built racks, reliable networks, systematic fault finding and a professional approach with clients.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Installing displays, projectors, speakers, control interfaces and associated AV equipment

  • Building, dressing, terminating and testing equipment racks

  • Installing and terminating AV, data and control cabling

  • Configuring, testing and troubleshooting integrated systems

  • Working with control systems, audio DSPs, conferencing equipment and networked AV

  • Reading drawings, schematics and installation documentation

  • Working alongside project managers and programmers to resolve technical issues

  • Supporting commissioning, system optimisation and client handover

  • Providing guidance to junior technicians where appropriate

YOUR BACKGROUND

We're particularly interested in technicians from residential AV, home cinema, smart home and home automation businesses.

You may have experience with:

  • Home cinema and dedicated theatre installations

  • Multiroom audio and video distribution

  • Control4, Crestron Home, Savant, RTI, ELAN or similar platforms

  • Lighting control and integrated home automation

  • Equipment racks, cable management and terminations

  • Network setup and troubleshooting for connected AV systems

  • System configuration, commissioning and customer handovers

You don't need experience with every platform listed. We're looking for sound technical foundations, pride in your workmanship and the ability to learn new systems.

WHAT YOU'LL NEED

  • Proven hands-on AV installation experience

  • Experience configuring, testing and troubleshooting integrated systems

  • Strong rack-building, cabling and termination skills

  • The ability to follow technical drawings and system schematics

  • Clear communication and confidence working with clients and other trades

  • An organised approach and the ability to work independently

  • A current driver's licence

Experience with Q-SYS, Biamp, Extron, Crestron, video conferencing or commercial AV systems will be highly regarded, along with AVIXA certifications or previous site leadership experience.

READY FOR YOUR NEXT STEP?

If you've developed your skills in residential integration and want broader project exposure, technical development and a long-term career in commercial AV, we'd like to hear from you.
