What’s it like living in Utopia?

Urapuntja Health Service is a community controlled health organisation located approximately 270km north east of Alice Springs on the Sandover Highway. The clinic is quite unique in that it is not embedded in an Aboriginal township, rather it has been purpose built on Aboriginal land, and the staff housing has been built around it, so it forms its own little community. It is set in a peaceful area of natural beauty and is surrounded by local ghost gums. The area is frequented by local brumbies and birdlife, so you will see some unique sights during your time in Amengernterneah. The clinic supports 16 outstations/communities in the homelands, with a combination of on-site (in clinic) consultations, as well as regular outreach visits. The health service have a self-contained mobile clinic (well-equipped consult rooms on a truck) to support outreach visits.
