We are seeking an experienced and proactive Accountant (General) to join our Head Office team in Bowen Hills.

This is an onsite role that will suit someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, has exceptional attention to detail, and can confidently manage the day-to-day financial operations of a growing organisation.

About the Role

The Accountant (General) will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial and management reports, supporting budgeting and forecasting, and ensuring Accord Care meets its financial, taxation and regulatory obligations.

The successful candidate will work closely with senior management and operational teams to strengthen financial controls, monitor business performance and support informed decision-making across the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements and management reports.
  2. Maintain the general ledger and ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial records.
  3. Complete bank, balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations.
  4. Manage and monitor accounts payable, accounts receivable and cash flow.
  5. Prepare budgets, forecasts and financial performance reports.
  6. Analyse income, expenditure, margins and operational costs.
  7. Monitor NDIS service revenue, participant funding, claims and outstanding payments.
  8. Reconcile NDIS claims, remittances, service bookings and participant accounts.
  9. Support payroll processing and reconcile payroll, superannuation and employee-related liabilities.
  10. Prepare BAS, GST and other statutory financial reports in consultation with external advisers where required.
  11. Assist with year-end reporting, external audits and taxation requirements.
  12. Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures and internal controls.
  13. Identify financial risks, reporting discrepancies and opportunities for process improvement.
  14. Provide financial advice and reporting support to senior management.
  15. Ensure financial practices comply with relevant accounting standards, taxation requirements and organisational policies.
  16. Maintain accurate and confidential financial documentation.

Skills and Experience

  1. Bachelor’s degree or higher qualification in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  2. At least 12 months of relevant professional accounting experience.
  3. Previous experience within an NDIS, disability, healthcare or community-services organisation is highly desirable.
  4. Strong understanding of financial reporting, reconciliations, budgeting and cash-flow management.
  5. Experience using accounting software such as Xero, MYOB or a similar platform.
  6. Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
  7. Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
  8. High level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  9. Ability to manage competing priorities and meet reporting deadlines.
  10. Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  11. Ability to work independently and collaboratively with management and operational teams.

Desirable Experience

  1. Experience with NDIS claiming and payment systems.
  2. Knowledge of NDIS pricing arrangements and participant funding structures.
  3. Experience working across multiple business entities, service locations or cost centres.
  4. CPA or CA membership, or progress toward professional accounting accreditation.
