DIRECTOR – AI & WORKFORCE TRANSFORMATION

THE ORGANISATION
Our client is a large, purpose-led Australian organisation operating in a complex and rapidly evolving environment. With an ambitious transformation agenda and strong executive sponsorship, the organisation is seeking a senior leader to shape how artificial intelligence will change its workforce, operating model and employee experience. This is a confidential search for an initial two-year fixed-term appointment based in Sydney.

THE ROLE
Reporting directly to the Chief People Officer, this newly created role will lead the people and workforce response to AI across the enterprise. Working closely with the executive team and senior leaders, you will translate emerging AI capabilities into practical changes to work, roles, structures, skills and ways of working.
You will develop the enterprise roadmap for AI-enabled workforce transformation; identify opportunities to redesign work and operating models; and establish the governance, capability and change frameworks required for responsible implementation. The role will also ensure the People function leads by example in adopting AI and creating a more effective, insight-led employee experience.
This is a strategic role with a strong delivery mandate. Success will require the ability to move comfortably between executive and board-level conversations and the practical implementation of complex transformation initiatives.

THE CRITERIA
To be successful in this role, you will be an experienced transformation leader with a strong background in workforce strategy, organisation design, operating-model transformation or people advisory. You may currently hold a senior corporate leadership position or possibly be operating at Director level within a leading consulting firm.
You will bring:

• Experience leading complex, enterprise-wide workforce or people transformation.
• A sophisticated understanding of how AI and automation can reshape work, roles, skills and organisational structures.
• Strong capability in organisation design, operating-model development and strategic workforce planning.
• A practical understanding of change, culture, employee experience, risk and governance.
• The credibility to influence executive leaders, boards and diverse stakeholder groups.
• A track record of converting strategy into measurable implementation and business outcomes.
• Sound commercial judgement and the ability to operate effectively where the path forward is still emerging.

Direct technical AI expertise is not essential. More important is the ability to connect technology with business strategy, workforce implications and human outcomes.
