Be inspired everyday – let your work make a difference #Superwithimpact

More than one million Australians trust us with their money, and that trust shapes how we work every day. Our members sit at the centre of everything we do, guiding our decisions and the impact we strive to make.

We’re looking for people who are purpose-driven and accountable, who value inclusion and collaboration, and who are proactive in managing risk to protect our members’ long-term outcomes. In return, you’ll be part of an organisation where your work contributes to strong returns, real-world impact, and a culture that reflects the communities our members serve.

The opportunity – ‘Do what you love, and you’ll never work a day in your life’ #careerswithimpact

In this 12-month Maximum Term Contract, you'll build HESTA's third-party governance strategy from the ground up, setting the standard for Country by Country Reporting and Reportable Tax Position governance. You'll draw on deep superannuation tax expertise across multiple jurisdictions, working directly on high-profile, regulator-facing deliverables with genuine autonomy to shape process. You'll also help HESTA maintain its standing as a Top 1000 taxpayer under the ATO's Justified Trust framework, work with real visibility across the fund and with regulators.

About the role:

As Tax Regulatory Lead, you'll take end-to-end ownership of HESTA's third-party governance strategy and its Country by Country Reporting and Reportable Tax Position frameworks. Reporting to the General Manager, Taxation, you'll work closely with the Fund Administrator, Custodian, tax advisers and regulators to build governance processes that stand up to scrutiny.  This includes:

  • Design and lead governance over the Fund Administrator in line with the ATO's third-party data guidelines
  • Build and implement a framework for managing Reportable Tax Positions, from year one delivery through to future years
  • Establish robust controls and processes for Country by Country Reporting
  • Liaise directly with Australian and foreign tax authorities and advisers to embed governance processes across jurisdictions

About you:

You bring deep, hands-on superannuation tax experience and a track record of building governance frameworks rather than simply following them. You're comfortable owning complex, high-profile deliverables independentlym demonstrated by:

  • 15+ years' experience in a superannuation fund or advisory firm
  • Strong technical knowledge of investment taxation, both domestically and internationally
  • Excellent knowledge of the ATO's Third Party Governance Guide and end-to-end superannuation fund tax processes
  • CPA or CA qualification, with strong project management and communication skills

If you've been looking for a role where you can genuinely shape strategy rather than inherit it, we'd love to hear from you.
