About the opportunity
A well-established electronic security integrator is looking for a Project Engineer to join its team, based in Melbourne, with Sydney-based candidates also being considered.
Working across large-scale commercial projects, you'll be responsible for the technical design, management and commissioning of electronic security systems from initial concept through to final handover. The client base spans large shopping centres, grocery chains, education facilities and logistics environments, offering exposure to complex projects and enterprise-level security infrastructure.
This is a hands-on technical role suited to someone who understands both electronic security systems and the IT infrastructure that supports them. You'll work closely with clients, project teams and technicians to ensure systems are designed effectively, delivered within budget and completed within agreed timeframes.
The role
- Design, manage and commission electronic security systems from concept through to final handover.
- Work across commercial projects involving access control, CCTV, alarms and integrated security platforms.
- Develop and review technical designs, system configurations and project documentation.
- Troubleshoot technical issues across security systems, IP networks and associated infrastructure.
- Conduct client presentations, provide technical recommendations and communicate project requirements clearly.
- Ensure completed systems meet client specifications, operational requirements and relevant standards.
About you
- Experience in a Project Engineer, Security Engineer, Commissioning Engineer or similar technical role within the electronic security industry.
- Hands-on experience with Genetec, Tecom and/or Inner Range Integriti.
- Experience with Gallagher is highly desirable.
- Strong understanding of IP networking, including PoE, VLANs and IP addressing.
- A genuine interest in IT infrastructure and networking, with the ability to understand how security systems operate within broader network environments.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the confidence to engage with commercial clients and explain technical concepts.
