About the role

We are seeking a Registered Nurse to join the Melbourne Donor Mobile Unit team, travelling regional Victoria with fantastic customer-facing experience and a genuine passion for delivering exceptional service to our donors. As a Registered Nurse, you will support our donors through their donation process while working collaboratively to achieve collection targets.

 Working on the mobile Unit could see you: 

  • Travelling to different Regional Locations in Victoria
  • Collaborating closely with a small but supportive team
  • Building strong connections with Local communities
  • Greet and interview potential donors to understand their eligibility and suitability to donate
  • Provide clinical oversight and guide other team members in the blood collection process
  • Complete routine blood pressure and haemoglobin tests
  • Set up machines and collections equipment
  • Insert and remove needles safely to collect whole blood, plasma, and platelets
  • Manage adverse donor reactions by providing instructions and physical assistance
  • Monitor donors post-donation and assist them to rebook for their next donation

The role will require regional travel to locations such as Swan Hill, Echuca, Seymour, Maryborough, Hamilton, Horsham, Ararat, Colac and Torquay. While working as part of the Mobile Unit team additional allowances are applicable as per our enterprise agreement.  

Our paid and flexible self-paced training program has a balance between on-the-job practice and online class schedules to ensure that you are well supported. Besides having a real passion to deliver an exceptional donor experience, you’ll need to be able to: 

  • Occasionally lift between 9-22.7kgs
  • Be comfortable travelling across regional Victoria via Car (Up to 4 hour Drives) and stay overnight (accomodation provided) for 4 nights at a time.
  • Hold a Valid Australian Driver's License with no restrictions
  • Frequently stand, walk and bend to set up and pack down machines and blood products
  • Utilise your expertise having completed a Bachelor of Nursing (or equivalent) and hold a current AHPRA registration
  • Be flexible to work varied shifts on a fortnightly rotating roster from Monday to Sunday, including weekends and afternoon shifts
  • Have your own vehicle and driver's licence. If applicable
