We pride ourselves on offering generous portions, efficient service and a welcoming dining experience for our customers, whether dining in or ordering takeaway.

As our business continues to serve a growing customer base, we are seeking an experienced and motivated Chef to join our kitchen team. The successful candidate will work under the direction of the Head Chef and be responsible for preparing and cooking a variety of authentic Indian, South Indian and Sri Lankan dishes while maintaining our standards of food quality, consistency, hygiene and presentation.

Key Responsibilities:

·Planning and organising daily food preparation and cooking requirements, including determining food quantities and preparation schedules to meet restaurant service demands.

·Planning and preparing menu items featuring authentic Indian, South Indian and Sri Lankan cuisine, ensuring recipes, ingredients and cooking methods are consistently followed.

·Preparing and cooking a range of traditional dishes, including dosa, biryani, uthapam, samosas, puri, kothu, Sri Lankan breads and other Indian, South Indian, Sri Lankan and Indo-Chinese dishes offered by the restaurant.

·Preparing and portioning ingredients, sauces, marinades and other food components required for daily kitchen operations and service.

·Monitoring the quality, taste, freshness, consistency and presentation of dishes at all stages of preparation and service.

·Determining appropriate cooking methods and regulating ovens, grills, hotplates, fryers and other commercial cooking equipment to achieve the required cooking results.

·Maintaining consistent portion sizes, cooking times, recipes and presentation standards across menu items.

·Monitoring food supplies, checking the quality and freshness of ingredients, and managing stock rotation, storage and preservation to maintain food quality and minimise wastage.

·Communicating with kitchen and front-of-house staff regarding food preparation requirements, menu items, customer requirements and service timing to ensure efficient food service.

·Demonstrating appropriate cooking techniques and providing guidance to kitchen staff on food preparation, cooking procedures and safe use of kitchen equipment.

·Maintaining and enforcing food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety requirements throughout food preparation, cooking, storage and service.

·Ensuring kitchen, food preparation and storage areas, utensils and cooking equipment are maintained in a clean, organised and safe condition.

·Training and providing guidance to junior kitchen staff in food preparation, cooking techniques, food safety and hygiene procedures.

·Freezing, storing and preserving food appropriately in accordance with food safety requirements and established kitchen procedures.

Qualification and Experience

·Minimum qualification is a Diploma in Hospitality Management, Commercial Cookery or a related field. Relevant industry experience may be considered in lieu of formal qualifications.

·Previous experience as a Chef in an Indian, South Indian, Sri Lankan or similar restaurant, with the ability to prepare a wide range of traditional dishes.

·Demonstrated ability to prepare and present Indian, South Indian and Sri Lankan dishes, including dosa, biryani, uthapam, samosas, puri, kothu, Sri Lankan breads and other menu items, to a consistently high standard in a fast-paced commercial kitchen.

·Strong understanding of food safety, hygiene and commercial kitchen operations.

·Enthusiastic and proactive with excellent communication and teamwork skills.

·Strong leadership skills with excellent attention to detail.

·Ability to work efficiently under the direction of the Head Chef and coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure timely service while maintaining food quality and consistency.
