Our Federal Government client is seeking experienced, analytical and self-motivated professionals to join an expanding Regulatory Division.

Multiple opportunities are available across compliance and investigations. Working under limited direction, you will take ownership of complex regulatory activities, provide sound advice and support transparent, defensible decisions.
These positions suit professionals with experience in compliance, investigations, financial auditing or assurance who enjoy analysing information, exercising judgement and supporting team capability.

Key responsibilities

Depending on your experience and the work stream, your responsibilities may include:

Senior Investigations Officers

  • Conduct risk-based investigations into potential legislative breaches and anti-avoidance schemes.
  • Use data and intelligence tools to identify high-risk behaviours, entities and arrangements.
  • Analyse evidence and contribute to targeted compliance strategies.
  • Prepare high-quality briefs, reports and correspondence to inform decision-makers.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of regulatory policies and procedures.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff to strengthen capability and work quality.

Senior Compliance Officers

  • Independently review financial disclosure returns for accuracy, completeness and legislative compliance.
  • Undertake complex compliance assessments and review funding claims and related procedures.
  • Oversee and coordinate the accurate processing and payment of approved funding.
  • Collect and analyse information from diverse sources to identify potential non-compliance, including risks associated with foreign financial contributions.
  • Apply a risk-based approach to compliance reviews and enquiries.
  • Provide guidance and support to junior staff and promote consistent, high-quality outcomes.

About you

To be successful, you will demonstrate:

  • Experience supporting or leading financial audits, compliance reviews, investigations or similar assurance activities.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex information, identify risks and provide accurate, well-reasoned advice.
  • Sound judgement and the ability to work autonomously under limited direction.
  • Strong organisational skills and a methodical approach to maintaining accurate records and meeting procedural requirements.
  • Highly developed written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing competing priorities and delivering quality outcomes under pressure.
  • Adaptability in responding to legislative reform, changing processes and emerging priorities.
  • A collaborative approach and the ability to guide junior staff and lead by example.

For Senior Investigations Officer positions, a Certificate IV in Government Investigations, or willingness to undertake this qualification with agency support, is highly desirable.

For Senior Compliance Officer positions, qualifications or relevant experience in accounting, commerce, finance or a related field are highly desirable.

What’s on offer

  • Meaningful work supporting transparency, integrity and public confidence.
  • Opportunities to contribute to significant regulatory reform.
  • Learning and development opportunities and study assistance.
  • Flexible working arrangements and employee wellbeing support.
  • Competitive employment conditions, including 15.4% superannuation, purchased leave and a paid Christmas/New Year shutdown period.

Eligibility requirements

  • Be Australian citizens.
  • Baseline security clearance.
  • Meet strict impartiality and political neutrality requirements.
  • Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including police, identity and agency-specific suitability checks.
