About the Opportunity
John Paul College (JPC) is seeking friendly, customer-focused individuals to join our Retail Centre team as casual Retail Assistants from November 2026. This is a wonderful opportunity to become part of a vibrant school community while working in our welcoming retail environment.
Our Retail Centre is often the first point of contact for new and existing families, making it a vital part of the JPC experience. As a Retail Assistant, you’ll help families find the right uniforms and apparel while delivering the warm, professional service our community has come to expect.
About the Role
Working alongside our Head of Retail Operations, you’ll assist with customer service, stock management, visual merchandising and daily sales reconciliations.
Candidates will need to be available to work up to full-time hours from November 2026 through to March 2027 to support our peak trading period and back-to-school appointments, excluding the College closure period of two weeks over Christmas and New Year.
Outside of this peak period, the role will offer varied hours during our normal retail operating hours, Monday to Friday, throughout the school year. Flexibility to work additional hours during school holiday periods will also be required to support operational needs.
Remuneration
This is a casual role with an hourly rate of $33.06 for applicants aged 21 and over, inclusive of 25% casual loading, plus 12.75% superannuation.
Junior rates of pay apply for applicants under 21, also inclusive of casual loading:
- 18 years: $23.14 per hour
- 19 years: $26.44 per hour
- 20 years: $29.75 per hour
About You
You bring a genuine enjoyment of helping people and a commitment to delivering excellent customer service. Previous retail experience is desirable, although we welcome applicants with transferable customer service skills.
You’re comfortable with POS systems, take pride in presentation and attention to detail, and can balance busy periods with a calm, positive approach. Flexibility to work extended hours during peak times is essential.
A current Paid Working with Children Check (Blue Card) is required prior to commencement.
