Job Description
Reporting directly to the CFO & Acting CEO, you will take ownership of the day-to-day finance function and act as a trusted adviser to senior leadership.
Key responsibilities include:
- Owning the end-to-end month-end close process and financial reporting cycle
- Preparing accurate and timely management, board and executive reporting
- Leading budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management processes
- Developing meaningful commercial insights and performance analysis
- Driving improvements to financial controls, governance and compliance frameworks
- Building financial models, dashboards and KPI reporting tools
- Partnering closely with Sales, Wholesale, Projects and Operational leaders to support decision-making
- Identifying business risks, commercial opportunities and performance improvement initiatives
- Managing statutory reporting requirements, external audits and tax compliance
- Leading and developing a direct report while helping build a scalable, best-practice finance function
This is not a "business-as-usual" Finance Manager position. It is a highly visible role focused on building capability, improving performance and influencing outcomes across the organisation.
The Successful Applicant
You are an ambitious, hands-on finance leader who enjoys operating across both technical accounting and commercial finance. Equally comfortable in the detail and at the leadership table, you're motivated by the opportunity to improve, influence and build.
You will bring:
- CA or CPA qualification
- Experience as a Finance Manager, Senior Financial Accountant, Financial Controller or similar
- Strong financial reporting, controls and statutory compliance capability
- Proven budgeting, forecasting and cash flow management experience
- Advanced Excel and financial modelling skills
- Strong commercial acumen and analytical capability
- Experience partnering with senior stakeholders and non-finance leaders
- The confidence to present insights and recommendations to executive and board-level audiences
- A continuous improvement mindset with a track record of strengthening processes and controls
- Strong leadership capability with experience mentoring or managing finance team members
Most importantly, you'll be someone who asks why, not just what. You'll want to understand the drivers behind performance, challenge assumptions and help shape the future direction of the business
What's on Offer
- $140,000 + Superannuation
- Hybrid working model (Melbourne CBD office / flexibility to work from home)
- Direct mentorship and exposure to the CFO & Acting CEO
- Significant executive and board-level visibility
- Opportunity to help transform and shape the finance function
- Join one of Australia's leading carbon market and climate solutions businesses
- Work in a purpose-driven organisation delivering meaningful environmental impact
- Broad role scope typically associated with more senior finance leadership positions
- Genuine career development opportunity within a growing, private equity-backed organisation
This role offers far more than a traditional Finance Manager position. It provides a seat at the table, the ability to influence strategic decisions, and the chance to build your profile within one of Australia's most dynamic and rapidly evolving sectors
