Key Duties and Responsibilities
In this role, you'll take ownership of the day-to-day accounting for a diverse portfolio of clients, including:

● Getting across each client's month-end journals, accruals and transactions, and checking them for accuracy and compliance.
● Preparing income tax returns for individuals, sole traders, partnerships, companies and trusts, and making sure nothing slips past the deadline.

● Handling BAS and IAS lodgements, including GST reconciliations and staying on top of PAYG instalments.
● Keeping clients' fixed asset registers up to date — managing depreciation, additions and disposals.
● Working through general ledger and balance sheet reconciliations each month, chasing down discrepancies and making the necessary adjustments.
● Helping shape budgets and accounting policies that support smart financial decision-making for our clients.
●Supporting year-end tax planning, financial reporting and FBT returns.
● Keeping our internal financial controls and processes in good shape, so everything stays compliant with accounting standards and tax requirements.
● Carrying out financial investigations and supporting audit-related work as it comes up.
● Offering clients clear, practical accounting and tax advice, and reporting to the Managing Director.
Qualifications and Experience
To be considered for this position, you'll need to bring:
● A Bachelor's degree or higher in accounting or a related discipline.
● At least one year of hands-on experience working as an Accountant, ideally within an accounting firm.

● Confidence using accounting software — Xero in particular — as well as Microsoft Office.
● Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with good organisational instincts.
● A careful eye for detail, and the ability to manage several client accounts and deadlines at once.
● Clear communication, whether you're working independently or as part of a team.
Benefits
● A competitive salary of $80,000 – $90,000 plus superannuation, reviewed as you grow in the role.
● Structured professional development, with support towards your CA/CPA pathway if that's where you're headed.
● A supportive, down-to-earth team that's happy to share knowledge and pitch in when deadlines bite.
