Payments Reconciliation Officer | Fortitude Valley | 5-Week Contract

Alchemy Recruitment is partnering with a local government client to support them in recruiting for a Payments Reconciliation Officer to join their Financial Control team on a short-term contract in Fortitude Valley.
About the role
- Pay rate of $44.18 per hour + super
- 5-week contract, Monday 2 November to Friday 4 December 2026
- 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 4:00pm
- Processing customer payments from multiple channels into the receipting system
- Preparing payments for bank submission and entry into financial systems
- Preparing cash and payment reconciliations and reports
- Investigating customer payment queries and unmatched transactions
- Preparing customer refunds
- Supporting financial controls and escalating issues as needed
- Providing first-line support to system users and contributing to process improvements
Preferred Requirements
- 1 to 3+ years’ experience in receipting, cash or bank reconciliation, accounts receivable or a similar transactional finance role
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience in a high-volume processing environment
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work unsupervised
- Clear written and verbal communication with internal and external customers
- Ability to pick up new systems quickly
- Available to start on 2 November
Preferred Qualifications
- Year 12 or relevant certificate
- Certificate IV in Accounting and Bookkeeping or similar (desirable)
- Experience with an ERP system such as SAP (desirable)
